My favourite German summer dish: Asparagus with new potatoes and ham

Hello dear readers,

I know, some people would call this dish simple but I call it instant gratification! Although the green asparagus is not very popular in Germany (we like the white one) I’m now pretty used to the one over here and this dish is just as delicious as with white asparagus.

All you need for 2-3 people:

  • 2 packages of Aspargus
  • 800g new baby potatoes
  • 6-8 big slices of good quality cooked ham
  • Some butter, salt and pepper

Boil the potatoes for 20 minutes. Half way through, bring asparagus to boil and simmer for 6-7 minutes. Roll the ham and place it on a nice plate. Once asparagus and potatoes are cooked, arrange them with your ham on a plate, cut potatoes into halves and let the butter melt over the potatoes and the asparagus. Season with some salt and pepper and enjoy with the cold, lovely ham. Bon Appétit!
